The Shirt Run

Mangum Track Club

The Shirt Run - At random points in time on the yearly calendar, runners from across the USA gather at a rural crossroads in the Sandhills of NC. They are fast and slow, young and not so young. They have no economic status here; all the trappings, brandings, and expectations of a materialistic society are left at home. Every one is an equal. They share each other's company and stories while traversing some of the most beautiful scenery that can be imagined, each runner one with the nature that surrounds them. At the end they swap more tall tales and the fellowship of food and drink. It is the purest form of this sport being lived to the fullest. No medals, no timing, no losers. It also is the most fun you can have on a Saturday morning in NC.

It's simple. Show up and run 15 miles from Mangum, NC (in the middle of nowhere) to the Dog Pen near Ellerbe, NC (still in the middle of nowhere). Finish the run, no time limit, and you are a lifetime member of the Mangum Track Club. You can click here to visit the website of the Mangum Track Club and see more details.
