Race Report Mount Desert Island Marathon Sunday, October
15, 2006 |
Ron comes into Seal Harbor, just past mile 8
Around the harbor and back on Highway 3
For the next 12 miles we were never very far from the water
The postcard perfect beauty kept your mind off the hills. This is Northeast Harbor, just past mile 10
The course looped around the harbor (to the left)
Here, just past mile 11, we had a distant view of the water
After passing Mile 12, we ran down the nearly deserted Main Street of the town of Northeast Harbor
Back around to the water
Running away from the coast, we were treated to spectacular changing leaves
Told this guy I had been waiting 2 hours and 28 minutes to take his picture.
Just past Mile 14
We always
meet great people on the marathon, especially those who are friends
running together.
The run around Somes Sound, one of the few natural fjords on the east coast of North America, was a treat. The course was slightly rolling and the visual experience puts this stretch of the course at the top of any marathoner's list.
This tree must live a tough life.
What an appropriate place to be wearing the PBFLR colors - for God certainly did good when he created this spot on His earth! |
