Race Report

Victory Junction Gang 1/2 Marathon

Sunday, December 2, 2007

Every now and then you get to run a race that really makes a difference. This one did. It was run to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, and it was a first class event, now in its second year.

Sunday Morning

Unusual to have a race run on a Sunday morning in the South, so the Pettys
made sure that everyone had a chance to go to church. Here, Pattie Petty
welcomed all the runners to the Randleman Middle School gym.

It was a packed house to hear the 9am Worship Service from Kenny Crosswhite
of Motor Racing Outreach.

Once again, Wendy stepped in and got photo ops with Kyle Petty and King Richard. The Pettys truly are the last family of their kind in NASCAR. Always gracious to their fans, class personified.

We all looked good before the race - Ron, Sharon, Ricky, and Johnny. Yes, it was cold.

The Donster and Ron - Don made the trip from Raleigh to join the fun

Chuck brought his lovely wife Sherri out of retirement, she had a great run. Yes, it was still cold and no, Chuck never wears enough clothes!

Amanda (proudly wearing the shirt from her first marathon in Raleigh on 11/4), Ron, Chuck, and Sharon are escorted to the start line by The King
