Race Report

Victory Junction Gang 1/2 Marathon

Sunday, December 3, 2006

Every now and then you get to run a race that really makes a difference. This one did. It was run to benefit the Victory Junction Gang Camp, and it was a first class event, even though this was the inaugural year.

Sunday Morning

Unusual to have a race run on a Sunday morning in the South, so the Pettys
made sure that everyone had a chance to go to church. Here, Pattie Petty
welcomed all the runners to the Randleman Middle School gym.

It was a packed house to hear the 9am Worship Service from Kenny Crosswhite
of Motor Racing Outreach.

Chad Austin found tricharlotte.com on the website, here he and Ron
look rested before the race.

You gotta be a King to wear this belt buckle

Before the race, Ricky spent a little time with the King himself - Richard Petty.
What a gentleman, what a Champion!

Wendy would be Scream Teaming later. Before the race she hung out with the Big Dogs from
NASCAR, they all signed autographs endlessly.

The Virginia boyz - Wayne, Roger, Tommy, and Frank - keep Sharon company.
The boyz look cold to me...

Speaking of cold, Ricky and Sharon try to stay warm before the start

Ron and Amanda (from Greensboro) met on the PenguinRunners list
just a week ago - good to have her join us for the encounter!

The Mangum Track Club crew waiting (shivering) for the start: Sharon,
Ron, Chris, Tony, The Professor, Sylvana, Dean,
and Mark

Ron with Wendy, she's a W.I.SH. team member, headed to Disney
in January 2007!

The Professor always can be found next to a pretty lady (Sharon),
while Tony is ready on the watch
