Drop the Green Flag and we're off!

The King himself, Richard Petty, drops the Green Flag to get us started

Wendy, Sharon, and The Professor cruising early

You didn't have any problem finding Wendy...

...or Sylvana, lots of bright colors. Dean is wearing the preferred running
outfit of MTC Ultra Runners, first made popular by Darryn in the 2005 Derby 50K.

Randleman was in the Christmas Spirit

After driving the Viper Pace Car for a mile in front of the field,
Kyle and Pattie Petty pulled over and cheered for EVERYbody in the race.
We can't say enough good about this family, their dedication to the
Victory Junction Gang Camp was very evident, and they were right in
the middle of the races all day long.

Frank (The Professor) pauses for a break in front of this home to
a discarded stationary bike (arrow). We're guessing they really have given
up exercising if they quit using it for a clothes rack and carried it to the barn!

The support crews and aid station workers were AWESOME all race long!

We had on-course support from the strangest looking critters!

The Professor hard at work - brightening the day for all these enthusiastic
young ladies. Their cheers took us up many a hill in 13.1 miles.

The race wasn't halfway done when Ron found a shortcut. In the distance
you can barely see the water tower for the Victory Junction Gang Camp,
location of the Finish Line!
