The First Half of the First Half (miles 1-6)

The first mile is on pavement on the roads in the main part of WSMR.

We keep running into Robert from Benson, NC

We cover the first two miles in 23 minutes (all times are rounded, they are taken from the digital camera data).

Just past mile 2 the pavement turns to dirt - but the roads are still wide and hardpacked.

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the mountains to the west. Beautiful.

Pam from Ft Sam Houston, TX had the most colorful gaiters we saw early in the race

11 minutes for mile 3

Felix from Houston, TX proudly carried the Stars and Stripes for all 26.2 miles

45 minutes past the start line, we pass mile 4

Just past mile 4 David made his first pit stop. Remember - there is still unexploded ordnance at WSMR, so be careful where you step when you leave the race course!

The aid stations are a couple of miles apart, and the volunteers are the best!

Yep, attorneys even take their cell phones while they run!

Philippians 4:13 is a good verse to follow out here in the desert

Just before mile 6, it's time to work on those blisters.

1:09 takes us to mile 6. We're cruising, and this ain't like running on the pavement back home!
