The Start

Colleen is looking MAH-VE-LOUS and OH SO CUTE in her new pink outfit. Layne (in green, advertising for CRC) looks worried!
Bobby (shades, behind Colleen's head) is simply ready to go.

0700 and the starting gun sets everyone off on the lap and a half around the ASU track

As the pack leaves the stadium, Layne and Bobby are tracking Amy Bath (#466),
a 29 year old who would finish today in 4:14, then go on the NEXT weekend to run the Vermont 100 miler in 26:22.

As Doug and Rick streak by, Ron comes to Marc, sending him on a gel mercy mission for Jane Fraytet, a Charlotte Runner.

One of the first signs you have that this is not a certified course is when you leave the track you "run around the parking lot". Really.

To Doug and Cher's credit, they did NOT cut through any parked cars...

That's 21 year old Corinne Makarewich on the right - this is her first marathon. She ran it in the memory of her boyfriend who recently passed away.
