GMM1997 was my 3rd Marathon, with my running Mentor, Chuck Bingham, pacing me.
Now, he and I are running our 10th GMM, and it's Chuck's "Comeback Marathon" as
he had successful prostate cancer surgery last fall.

If you can finish this marathon in less than 5 hours, your last 400m is around the track near the top of Grandfather Mountain, cheered to the finish by 30,000 spectators who await the noon start for the Highland Games.
Our goal today - make it to the track!

Colleen ran GMM last year. In the last 12 months, she's gotten smarter.

We listen to pre-race instructions. Due to a course change, this year we don't run around the ASU track, don't run around the parking lot, and don't get to run on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Oh one more thing - the course is about a half-mile longer!
