RACE REPORT - Millard Elder, millard.elder@il.proquest.com

So much has been said about this race by folks more eloquent than I, my report will just be some highlights.  Not in any particular order other than the first one.

1. Being told by my son that  "You Rock Dad" since I was at most of our meeting points on the course ahead of schedule and missed him and Jess at our pre-arranged meeting points.

Meeting some Penguins for the first time and renewing friendships with old ones.

Starting the race with Abe, Nangel, and Ken even though Abe and Nangel lost Ken F.  and I before we got off the bridge.

Running for the first ten miles with Ken, but still not understanding why Gail did not come.

Meeting Lola.

Being greeted and cheered on by various Penguins and Deads along the course.

Meeting up and running with a friend from the Detroit area who runs all races carrying a full size POW/MIA flag.

Having my picture taken with Lola.

Running an 8 minute PR.

Having a splendid meal and visit with a cousin I have not seen in around 15 years.

Having an absolutely wonderful vacation with my family.

Getting and making phone calls to various folks during the race.  This is probably the best reason I can think of to own

 a cell phone.

Did I mention seeing all my new and old Penguin friends?

Having Kelly promise that she would not post the picture of me in a tiara on any of the Harley sites!!!

Knowing that not as many "I beat Millard at _______________" would be printed for this race, as some of the others :-)

There are many more things to say but, people walking by my cube are starting to wonder why I keep starting to cry ...

Much love and peace to you all,

Millard
