DANIEL'S WORLD FAMOUS SATURDAY NIGHT ENCOUNTER AT PADRONE'S:

This is THE place to be in NYC the night before the marathon. Only selected WORLD CLASS athletes are allowed in. Here you see Jim and Kecia; RunAbe talking with Karen.

Kathryn and Peggy get directions from Daniel (who organizes this fabulous event every year). They are passing out nametags created by Peggy! On the right his Scream Teamer Supreme Shelton...

(L) A table full of NASCAR runners - Mike, Sue, Carolyn and Chuck; (R) Sue, Deb, and Carlene

Carol, Mike, and Jorge; Carolyn and Chuck

Abe and his running partner for the Marathon, Nangel; Barb, Tony, and Harriet

David and Marjorie; Cheryl and Milt (who has his Buckeye gear on 2 months BEFORE they won the national Championship!)

Peggy and Ellen (as in "El from Brooklyn"); Mike with somebody's son (there goes my memory again - somebody send me an email)

I won't even try to name all these - but you can see a good time was being had by all.

Joe and Julia; Bonnie, Warren, and Kelly

Debbie (who doesn't like having her picture taken); Ron and Carol (who probably wishes this one hadn't been taken)

Daniel with Marcella, Barb, and Tony; showing off his hardware with Liz and Marcella

NASCAR FANatics Sue and Mike; Ron listens to Kecia make promises about the JFK50...

Time for the formalities. Daniel led things off, welcoming everyone to the City That Never Sleeps. Then Karen handled the awards...

...which included Peggy's for Most Penguin Like Speed During a Marathon and Carol's for Newest Member of the Brigade (3 days)

We gathered outside for a group shot, getting a little chilly, then...

...we took the subway back. Allright, we did walk a LITTLE, but notice that MaryD s the one leading the way. I did NOT get us lost!

Resting on the steps of the Portland Square after our cross-town journey. A word about this hotel - it became the "semi-official" Brigade hangout. Great place to stay, great deal, right in the middle of everything.

We just took the small lobby over and had a Penguin Banner Painting party. Deb did the artwork, and the "filling in" was handled by Cher, Lauren, Carol, Lisa, Carlene, Sue, and Ron. Supervision was provided by MaryD, Milt, and Mike. On the right is the finished product which will mark our "Penguin Condo" on Sunday morning at Fort Wadsworth. With our artistic talents drained, we headed to our rooms for a fitful night of sleep. Marathon Morning dawns early in NYC...
