Carol never missed a chance to share the love with Firemen or NYPD. On the
left she is at 135th Street in Harlem, on the right we are coming around a
park just before Mile 24. If you compare the building in the background to
pictures taken at the same spot in previous years, you'll see they have
been doing some serious rebuilding. |

Still in Harlem, we met the guys and gals at The Fire Factory, Engine
Company 58, Ladder Company 26. As darkness approaches, Carol makes a quick
side trip - ladies, you might want to ask her about technique 'cos by the
end of the marathon she could get off and back on course in about 30
seconds! In this case, she mentioned something about looking up while
between parked cars and seeing the people sitting in the parked cars
quietly observing... |

We pushed on toward the goal as the light faded. The picture of Ron and
Carol was taken by Debbie Sullivan (and Lola) who had come all the way
down here (we had seen them around Mile 18) to cheer. On the right is Deb
and Jen around mile 25.5, making the turn onto Central Park South with
Connee, one of Harriet's Hot Flashes. |
