Race Report

New York City Marathon

It's the Greatest Marathon Experience on the Face of the Earth. Here's how we did it this year:

FIRST, a limo to take you to the start...much more luxurious than the buses. Here Erin and Kim
look WAY more alert than anyone should be at 0515.

Then you find a few hundred of you close friends and hang out in the tent with them.
If you pick the tent where the Worship Service is held, you can even stay seated while
we all sing!

You'll find other friends there to run with - Harriet, Ron, and Daniel.
Harriet had an amazing run - click here to read the details

Try to hang out with Daniel - he always is surrounded by beautiful ladies!
Here is Daniel's race report

About an hour before start time, queue up and move out to join the crowd on the Verazzano-Narrows bridge

If you are on the bridge and can see the starting line (balloons in the background) then it's going
to be a good day. BTW, this year ORANGE or BLUE was the place to be...not GREEN!

After the Star Spangled Banner is played, and the cannon fires, you will head off to the
timeless sound of Frank singing "New York, New York", accompanied by your 37,000
close friends. If you are coordinated enough (like Erin and Kim), you head toward the start line
doing the Rockette kick in step with each other and with Frank.

Kinda hard to stop for pictures on the V-Z bridge, you can get run over!

To the runners' left, it's quite a display. Fireboats salute the runners, the expanse of Manhattan
is in the distance. Lady Liberty holds her torch high, 6 news helicopters circle overhead,
it's the most electric moment in sport - and you are part of it!

Come off the bridge and Welcome to Brooklyn! Of course, you need to call and make sure
your Scream Team is properly positioned just ahead at Mile 3

And they were. Bob (Erin's husband) and Beth and Todd (Kim and her brother
John's friends) were in place at 94th Street and 4th Avenue, signs ready. John is taking
the picture.
