Race Report

New York City Marathon

Sunday, November 5, 2006

The ladies took a health break at Mile 13, the foot of the Pulaski Bridge. The guy on the right
held up a sign that said "Slow Down, the Brazilian already won it." So Ron, always listening
to advice, did just that and accepted their offer of a chair.

Halfway. Pulaski Bridge, leaving Brooklyn headed for Queens

The NYCM volunteers, young and old, are the best! Here is a crew eager to serve at Mile 14

You don't spend too much time in Queens. Mile 15 is on the climb up the Queensborough
Bridge (or per S&G, 59th Street Bridge). It's a killer climb at this point in the race. Kim doesn't
like hills, so she and Erin jetted up to get it over with. Here we are on the descent, at the bottom
a 270 degree left turn puts you on First Avenue at Mile 16.

After walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, catching a cab, and sprinting to 1st Avenue, the
Scream Team makes it just in time

You know how good a perfectly cooked steak, or maybe a seafood delicacy, tastes when
you are really hungry? Well, marathoners appreciate good food too...

Orange Slices!! We'll survive now, we've got Orange Slices!!

Sis gets a hug from her Brother, transferring energy for the last 10 miles

Perfect weather, nothing cramping yet - it's still a thumbs up day

We would rather stay and party, but run we must...10 miles to go

The crowds continue to carry us up First Avenue

This guy appears to be going the wrong way

We're past mile 17 now, still on 1st Av. The high rise buildings hold the sound in, and the crowds...

...the crowds spill out of the bars and scream for EVERYbody!
