From Scott:

Did 136 miles today into a head wind. 7800 feet of climbing in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Everyone suffered. 9 hours on a bike. A first for me. First time I've ever spent 9 hours on a bike. I'm toast. Everyone is. I'm just older. I think we go down hill some tomorrow..

SATURDAY 4//22 - Day 7- Gallup, NM to Albuquerque, NM (Sunday 4/23 will be a Zero Day)

Scott is second from the right. He's not going to waste any cycling energy on tug-of-war games. But at least he hasn't dozed off
standing up like the guy on the far right.

FRIDAY 4//22 - Day 6 - Winslow, AZ to Gallup, NM

From Scott:

Made it to Gallup, NM today. 135 miles, averaged 17.8 mph. Cold and windy. Very challenging.
We ride the same distance to Albequerque tomorrow.

Pretty sure Scott is second from the right in this picture, half hidden behind the rider in blue/white.

Picture from Scott. Ready to go - 28 degrees at the start in Winslow.

THURSDAY 4/22 - Day 5 - Cottonwood, AZ to Winslow, AZ

From Scott:

Did 108 miles today. 5,000 feet of switch back type climbing. All in one place. We were at 8,000 feet, then it snowed for a few hours!
We rode to Winslow AZ on the interstate. It's cold. Headed to Gallup then Albequerque the next two days on interstate.
I'm beyond exhausted. Just trying to hang on. I'm toast.

WEDNESDAY 4/21 - Day 4 - Wickenburg, AZ to Cottonwood, AZ

From Scott:

Did 103 miles today with 10,000 of climbing. That's 4,000 more feet
than the Morrow Mtn century from my house. We were in Prescott AZ. We
had snow sleet and rain. The descent was 17 miles of scary downhill.
Very scary and cold. Snowing as we came down. I went 35 to 40 mph on the way down,
s ome did 50 mph. Very technical and wet. Had one of our best cyclists get
hypothermia today. Had to call an ambulance. Was in hospital myself
getting 2 bags of fluids last night. Very dehydrated from the AZ
desert. Another guy had to get fluids Monday night. I felt ok today.
I climbed well in the colder weather. No blog updates. Google made changes
to the blog and I can't fix it from here. Too busy in the evenings anyhow. We
have a tight schedule logistically. This is twice as challenging as I expected.
The group is the most fit ever the leader said. I'm the dest here.

TUESDAY 4/20 - Day 3 - Blythe to Wickenburg

MONDAY 4/19 - Day 2 - Palm Springs to Blythe

Email from Scott:

I cannot update my blog (spotaride.blogspot.com). Google changed the way they allow access to a blog, just in time for me to go on this trip. Go figure. From time to time, you may want to check this link. The leader here updates it with stuff about the 15 people I'm riding with.

Check out the rider on the right...what kind of frame fitting is that?

Where there are no other roads to connect, bicycles are allowed on the interstate out west. You have to ride on the shoulder,
I can't imagine all the FOD that you pick up there.

SUNDAY 4/18 - DAy 1 - Costa Mesa to Palm Springs

That's Scott in the lead, making the turn.

Scott is on the far left.
