He left Springer Mountain, Georgia on March 11. His destination - Katahdin, The Greatest Mountain, 2,178.3 miles to the north. He has endured snow and rain and sleet and lightning and heat and even a few beautiful days. Along the way he's dropped a few pounds (compare the two pictures) and made lifelong friendships. It is an amazing story of personal accomplishment. The adventure came to an end under great conditions on Friday July 31 on the 5,268' summit of Mt. Katahdin, Maine. Back on June 22 at mile 1674 Shock and Awe II took place as Ricky and Ron once again intercepted Marc (aka Spokes) in Vermont, finding him at an AT Shelter and hiking the next few days with him.
